No Dumping

How many immature boys have made crude jokes about 'No Dumping' signs? In America, these signs are talking about trucks. Well, welcome to China. Of course the signs are written in Chinese, on the wall of the bathroom in a restaurant or a bar stating, (Qing3)请(Wu4)勿(Da4)大(Bian4)便 or please don't...

A quick break down of the Chinese, (Qing3)请 means 'please.' (Wu4)勿 means 'don't' or 'not.' (Da4) means 'big' and (Bian4)便 literally means 'convenience' but has extended meanings. The sign states, 'please don't big convenience,' of course the small convenience or (Xiao3)小(Bian4)便 is still ok.

This unpleasant phenomenon relates back to the lousy plumbing in China, which makes it impossible in most cases to flush toilet paper down the toilet without it clogging. Thus paper is generally put into the trash can...and I think we get the point. No dumping.
